[Zhao was lounging haphazardly in the common room as he worked on his character sheet for the upcoming mission. At first he was a bit skeptical of the mission file, perhaps wondering if it were a prank from Degar and Viv-chan. But the longer he thought about it the less it really mattered anyway. As he stared at the world description and the character creation guide he began to enjoy himself as he created his new persona to play while on mission.
On a table beside him there was a plethora of dice scattered on the coffee table next to his lounge chair, as well as some paper and a few pencils. He had thought maybe he might need them considering the type of game this stuff looked like it belonged to. In the end, however, he simply lounged back in the chair with one foot propped on the chair with him and a small electronic notepad in his hands. He was always more comfortable with tech in hand anyway.
He was typing away at his character sheet when he suddenly got the feeling he was being watched but he didn't look up just yet.]
[He's not wrong about being watched. And the watch turns into an approach, curious about what he's so engrossed in.
Natasha has looked at her own character sheet a little, maybe a little skeptical. She's plenty familiar with creating a backstory, but this... this all feels a little silly.
That doesn't mean she doesn't want to see how other orbers are handling it.
[He was not concerned with the breach in his personal space, far from it. He finally finished typing a small part and craned his neck back to look up at her, a twinkle in his eye.]
Eh, what can I say. I look good in scales.
[He said with a one shoulder shrug and an enthusiastic smirk.]
[Wow, don't judge him! Okay, you can judge him a little if it's kindly. He likes you.
He laughs a little.]
Dragons remind me of good things. I can't help it if I like them a little too much.
[His smile was a little more genuine this time. Then his head cants to one side.]
I'd have to agree with imouto-san on that one. You can be human any day of the week, but you can only be an elf or gnome or an orc or whatever when you're getting transformed by magic to blend in with the locals on a fantasy planet. Might as well have a little fun!
We like to have fun. Nothing boring for those with a little style.
[He tilts his head again as he considers then shrugs.]
Exactly. I'm not sure I'd make a great warlock though the magic is tempting. I think I'll hedge my bets and go for something I can fake a little better... and work up to the magic part. Which leaves the bard class.
[It prevents him from just being him, at least a little bit. He was already good with weapons and melee combat, time to try something different.]
[The least played DnD class of ages past. Zhao is only familiar with the game by proxy and osmosis of culture though, he doesn't play it or know it very well otherwise. For him, this was more a reminder of his old video game playing days. RPGs with classes and skills and magic to choose from, so most of his knowledge his coming from that basis.]
True, for both legitimate and non-legitimate places. Everyone loves a bit of entertainment. [He laughs softly.] Why would you want to change anyone's mind? We're all in agreement that you sing wonderfully, Nat-chan.
[He grins as he says it. He's not falling for it. She's plenty fun as far as he's concerned.]
I will gladly be your back-up singer. And if we're lucky I can remember how to strum an instrument that may or may not be anything like a guitar.
[Does he know how to play a guitar? A little bit. Does he know how different a lute is from a guitar? Not at all. But he's gonna find out on this mission.]
[He's either not sure, or he has no idea who that is. Maybe he'd recognize the name of the song more easily than her--though the name Sinatra does ring bells even for him.]
If it's simple, I can play it... unless the lute proves a lot harder than expected. [He chuckles briefly. He's pretty sure it shouldn't be that hard.] You might have to give me a hint what you wanna perform though.
[He watches her, perhaps a little disappointed she's leaving so soon. He adjusts in the chair, and props the tablet on his knee.]
Hey, that's a legitimate class in most of the games I've played. Dancers usually perform similarly to bard class--but with a higher chance at being just as good at fending for themselves than a bard if you ask me.
[Like the shadow dancers in some video games where they excel at both buffing the party and assassinating all the things like a boss. That seemed right up her alley.]
[Well, that's fair. And hopefully true. It would be awkward if he suddenly lost his ability to even remember his martial arts just because he chose to be a bard. He smiles for her compliment.]
Thanks. I know you will. I don't mind being saved by a beautiful hero if the need arises though, just so you know.
I'll be sure to remember to grab a towel next time I prance around the station bare threads. Can't have people worrying about where they can sit safely.

She is not shy about leaning over his shoulder.]
Dragon again? You have a theme going here.

[Her tone, a little wry and teasing, suggests she might judge a little. But kindly.]
What do you make of all this? My sister has been telling me it'd be a waste to be human for this mission.

[Pretending she doesn't see his point.]
So why not be scaley? And get to use magic. Are you going to be a warlock or something?

[That is something that might stand a little investigation. Since they'll allegedly be getting powers based on their choices.
It would be a fairly hilarious but pathetic self-own if half of them chose bard and no one picked, say, rogue.]
It seemed like the kind of thing that could get us access. Though it might not do much to change people's impression of me after that karaoke fiasco.

[Is it wrong? Exactly how it's wrong remains to be answered. Maybe she just doesn't want people imagining she's fun.
That would be a mistake. Clearly.]
On the other hand, maybe we'll finally get our duet.

[They can do a bardcore cover of These Boots Are Made For Walkin'. Why not.
At least it's fun to picture.
Natasha's not ready to relax, but she'll try to... look for the fun side of this? If they don't, they'll never have any.]
Better than Wonderwall at least.

[She leans back, finally letting him work on his tablet in peace.
She circles around the common area, shrugging one shoulder as she keeps him in her line of sight.]
Personally I'll be cheating by dancing instead of playing an instrument.

Regardless of if we decide to pose as bards or barbarians.

[That would be cheesy. Natasha's not sure this is exactly better.
Though she hopes they're not in fur bikinis. That seems like the worst of all worlds.]
I think I'll hope for something with a little more pants.
no subject
To each their own. I'm fine either way. Pants can always be taken off when the need arises.
[Look what has happened here. The innuendo was a by product, he couldn't help himself at this point.]
